Nothing's Said
The opening song on my new album Lifelines is about sliding doors - how a moment's hesitation can change a life, sometimes leaving years of regret for something that might have been... if only.

Nothing's Said
I
want you to know before you close the door
I
wanted to say before you turn away…
but
nothing’s said.
You
know the words don’t come out easy when you’re
knocking
upon my door
the
syllables they fade and fall
between
the cracks in the floor and the
sentences
they stumble and they
slip
away unsaid
and
the silence mocks the muted words
that
hide inside my head…
but
nothing’s said.
I
want you to know before you close the door
I
wanted to say before you turn away…
but
nothing’s said.
And
I know before you go there will be
just
one last kiss
then
yesterday’s reality will be
just
tomorrow’s wish
And
I know you can’t judge a leopard by the
spots
upon its coat
but
how can you judge the writing on the wall
when
it isn’t even wrote.
I
want you to know
I
really love you so
I
wanted to say, yeah, yeah hey hey
don’t
ever go away…
but
nothing’s said.
