Lieven Tavernier
Quick post just to share with you the music of a lovely man. Lieven Tavernier's new CD, Witzand, dropped through the letterbox today and I listened earlier over coffee. Lots of great sounds, but I don't half wish I could understand Flemish, would love to follow the lyrics.

We met Lieven a couple of years ago in Wales. He was cycling down the mountain past our home and we happened to be in the garden when he stopped to ask where he could get a drink as it was a sweltering day. What better excuse than to get the kettle on straightaway and have a tea party on the terrace?
He told us he was staying in a seaside village nearby as his wife was one of the cooks for a Belgian brass band that was touring the area and happened to be playing locally that evening. So the conversation turned to music and he told us how he was a singer/songwriter himself, so another cue to get my guitar and start a session. It was an interesting hour exchanging songs and hearing Lieven's music - even though I couldn't understand a word, I loved the quality of his voice.
By the time Lieven got back on his bike a friendship had been cemented and he left with Philip and I both hoping our paths would cross with his again in the future. Kismet!
